Seachem was established in 1981 by Dr. Leo G. Morin, then an associate professor in the School of Medicine, Emory University, Atlanta, GA. In 1994, Dr. Morin retired from the university and became full time CEO and Scientific Director of Seachem. Seachem occupies about 24,000 square feet which include production and research laboratories, manufacturing, inventory, shipping, and office space.

Sera Company
[CANADA] The sera company was founded in 1970 by Josef Ravnak, who had before earned a good reputation by selling live food. Due to the then new lyophilisation process it was possible for the first time to conserve food animals with optimal preservation of nutrients and vitamins. From the beginning, great store was set to the high quality of the produced food. Due to careful product control and continuously improved production methods it was possible to even increase the product quality. Also today, after more than 25 years, the very high quality FD food represents a large and important part to the sera product range.
During the following years, the range was continuously expanded and optimized. Besides different food types (just to mention the flake food sera vipan which has been introduced to the market in 1972), another focal point has been put on water conditioning (sera aqutan and sera morena, among others). Further important items are care and fertilization of aquarium plants (e.g. sera florena) and the development of medications for aquarium fish (e.g. sera costapur and sera baktopur). Also the water test series, which is important for monitoring the water parameters, is developed and then continuously optimized and increased.
