WHAT IS THE FISH CLUB AND SOCIETY WEBRING?

First, let me explain what a WebRing is, then I'll get into the specifics of this particular WebRing.

A WebRing is a way of linking related sites together. A person who is at your site can easily find one of a similar nature to go to. There are several ways offered to accomplish this. Each site, as it joins the ring is given a number. On your page is the WebRing information. It provides the means for the person to go to the next site (the next higher numbered site), the previous site (the next lower number), gives a list of the next five or previous five sites, a randomly chosen site, or the index of sites from which they can chose a site to go to. If a person was to start with one site and click through to the next site he would eventually visit all the sites in the ring and be back at the original site. It is a large circle, and hence the term ring.

The purpose of this particular ring is to link all fish related clubs and societies so that a person who is looking for a club or society in their area (area with a dual meaning here, area of interst, and/or area as in location) will ba able to find one. By joining the WebRing, you will be inviting visitors to your site either as a potential member, or, depending on the content of your site, as a potential bookmark for information.

Only clubs and societies that promote some form of fishkeeping will be allowed to join the ring. It soes not matter whether your organization is strictly freshwater or marine, a pond group or a species group.

For more information on WebRings or to find WebRings devoted to other topics, visit the WebRing home page.

HOW CAN YOU JOIN THE WEBRING?

1. Your site must promote an organization that is concerned with fishkeeping in some way. It does not matter whether it is a general type organization that caters to hobbyists, or a specialized group dedicated to a certain group within the hooby. It can even be an organization that promotes the conservation of threatened or endangered species or research.

2. Fill out the form presented at the end of this section. This information is needed to register you with the WebRing.

3. Download the graphic used in the WebRing HTML code. This can be found at the top of this page or below. Just right click on it and choose "Save Image" from the list of options shown. Or, you can download the graphic by clicking on the word highlighted.

Place the ID you are given where it says YOUR_ID_HERE so that you are correctly identified in the ring. Also, where you see YOUR_NAME and YOUR_EMAIL_ADDRESS, edit as appropriate so people know who you are and how to reach you. You will recieve a copy of this code via email when you register as well. FWIW, if any of you are artisitic, and would like to donate some of your talent, I am open to a better, more defining graphic than the one currently used. But don't forget to get the graphic to add to your site and check to make sure the code points correctly to where the graphic is stored on your site. DO NOT point to the location of the graphic here. It can cause more problems than it is worth.

5. Fill out this form to register.
