Practical Formulas for Hobby or Profit, by Henry Goldschmiedt, 1973, 494 pp, hardbound with original dust jacket (some scuffing on jacket). Ten chapters: (1) "Adhesives and Cement", (2) Chemical Secialties", (3) "Cosmetics", (4) "Drugs", (5) "Farm, Garden and Home Specialties", (6) "Food Products", (7) Miscellaneous", (8) "Paints and Coatings", (9) "Laboratory Equipment", (10) "Start You Own Business". This book has an extensive index and appendices of tables, "Chemical Substitutes", lab safety, trademarks, supplier list and "Aerosols". This is a good, basic book for anyone wanting to try their hand at some do-it-yourself formulas for lost of products used in the home, on the farm, or in the lab. This is a good tight, clean book with but little wear on the dust jacket. Our price is $14.50 which includes postage & handling to addresses in the U.S.(insurance extra); sales outside of the U.S. may require extra postal costs. Order by title and author.

Fun with Chemistry, by The A.C. Gilbert Company, 1960, 83 pp, softbound with no markings or stains on pages. There is some wear evident on the cover, but this is minor. This experiment manual has scores of experiments, demonstrations and illustrations. There are nine chapters: (1) "Inside the World of Chemistry", (2) "Our Sea of Gases", (3) At the End of the Rainbow", (4) "Metals and Their Chemicals", (5) "Carbon", (6) "Chemistry at Work", (7) "On Our Own", (8) "Chemical Tests for Minerals and Chemicals", and (9) "Chemical Exploring". Our price is $12.00 which includes postage & handling to addresses in the U.S.(insurance extra); sales outside of the U.S. may require extra postal costs. Order by title and author.

Chemistry for Boys, edited by Treat B. Johnson, Elbert M. Shelton and Alfred C. Gilbert, 1936, 199 pp, softbound with staining on the cover and a number of pages near the front, and with some obvious chemical burns on the cover that little disturb the interior pages, This experimental manual is actually in exceptional condition (we have seen dozens of these) for its age. There are 640 experiments and demonstrations contained in this historically important chemistry set manual. Having been published in 1936, the chapters cover such timely aspects of chemistry such as the importance of hydrogen and helium in aviation and the use of poisonous gases in warefare. If you've tired of the ordinary kitchen chemistry of modern chemistry sets, this is the manual for you. Our price is $18.00 which includes postage & handling to addresses in the U.S.(insurance extra); sales outside of the U.S. may require extra postal costs. Order by title and author.

Experiments with a Microscope, by Nelson F. Beeler and Franklyn M. Branley, 1957,154 pp, hard cover with original dust jacket. There is very minor wear on the dust jacket and the pages are nearly pristine with minor foxing on the last ten or so pages and on the edges. This book has 17 chapters and an index. It covers everything from how a microscope works, to culturing protozoa, staining and observing bacteria and photomicrography. Despite its age this book is ideal for anyone just starting to work with a microscope. The illustrations are detailed and are thoroughly appropriate for each discussion and demonstration. Our price is $19.50 which includes postage & handling to addresses in the U.S.(insurance extra); sales outside of the U.S. may require extra postal costs. Order by title and author.
